What to Do If You Have No or Low Water Pressure at Home
If you're experiencing low or no water pressure at home, here are some steps you can take to identify and possibly fix the issue:
Check the Basics
• Multiple Fixtures – Check if the problem is affecting just one tap or multiple fixtures. If it’s only one, the issue may be with that specific tap or pipe.
• Water Main Valve – Ensure your main water valve is fully open. If it's partially closed, it could be restricting water flow.
• Neighbourhood Issues – Ask your neighbours if they’re also experiencing low pressure. If they are, it might be a municipal supply issue.
Possible Fixes
• Clean Faucet Aerators & Showerheads – Mineral buildup can clog them. Unscrew and clean them to restore normal pressure.
• Check for Leaks– Look for visible leaks in pipes or listen for hissing sounds. A hidden leak can drastically lower water pressure.
• Test the Pressure Regulator– If you have one, a faulty regulator can reduce water pressure. Replacing it may solve the issue.
• Flush the Pipes – Sometimes, trapped air or debris in the plumbing system can cause low pressure. Running all taps for a few minutes may help.
